The family of a walker reported missing more than three years ago have been informed after human remains were discovered on Ben Nevis. Police Scotland said the remains were found on the south side of the mountain at around 11.50am on Saturday, February 28.
The discovery is believed to be linked to Harvey Christian, 42, from Peterborough, who was reported missing after travelling to the Fort William area in January 2023 with plans to climb Britain’s tallest mountain.

Mr Christian was last seen on January 27, 2023. Concern grew for his welfare after he failed to return from his trip, prompting his family to raise the alarm.
His vehicle — a black Vauxhall Crossland X — was later found parked in a layby in Glen Nevis, near the route commonly used by climbers ascending Ben Nevis.
Police Scotland confirmed the remains have not yet been formally identified, but Mr Christian’s family has been informed of the discovery.
A spokesperson said: “There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances, and a report will be sent to the procurator fiscal.”
Search efforts were launched shortly after Mr Christian disappeared, with officers previously confirming enquiries were ongoing as concerns remained for his safety.
Formal identification procedures are now expected to take place.
