Burglar causes extensive damage to Barclays bank Peterborough

A 42-year-old Peterborough man was arrested

Barclays Bank in the centre of Peterborough was attacked this morning – and extensive damage caused to the front windows and the lobby area.

Police were called at 6.30am after reports that someone was causing damage to the front of the bank.

A 42-year-old Peterborough man was arrested on suspicion of criminal damage, possession of an offensive weapon and burglary.

He remains in custody.

Meanwhile bank officials are examining the extensive of the damage, which is considerable.

Customers are being advised to use the bank’s branch at The Fleet, Fleet Way, if they need to use Barclays this morning.
