A Peterborough man who terrorised a resident into handing over just £100 has been locked up. Nicholas Hutson, 40, twice turned up at the victim’s home in Ravensthorpe on 4 May, demanding cash and threatening violence.
In the first incident, at 10am, he claimed a gang was waiting round the corner ready to attack if money wasn’t handed over. Terrified, the victim drove him to a Westwood cashpoint and withdrew £50.
But Hutson wasn’t finished. Just four hours later he returned — this time pulling out a knife and repeating his threats. Again, the victim handed over £50 at a cash machine, but on this occasion police were called and Hutson was arrested.
Hutson, of Artindale, Bretton, admitted two counts of blackmail. At Peterborough Crown Court on Wednesday (17 September) he was jailed for 45 months.
DC Matt Reed said: “The victim was terrified and in genuine fear he’d be harmed. Nobody should live in fear in their own home. I’m pleased Hutson has been brought to justice.”
