The family of a cyclist who died just weeks after his wedding have paid tribute to “a wonderful man and father”. Artur Ciesielski, 49, died on 9 March after suffering critical injuries in a collision at Rhubarb Bridge, near Lincoln Road in Peterborough, at about 6.45pm on 21 February.
No other vehicles were involved in the incident, and police are continuing to appeal for witnesses.
Artur had married his wife only days before the crash, celebrating their wedding on 13 February and looking forward to their future together.
In a tribute released after his death, his family described him as a kind, cheerful and caring man who was deeply loved.
“Artur was a kind, cheerful and caring man who was deeply loved by his family,” they said. “Originally from Poland, he had been living in the UK for 23 years and had built his life here.”
Artur loved spending time outdoors and enjoyed fishing and cycling. His family said he was an experienced cyclist who travelled everywhere by bike.
On the day of the incident, he had gone out on his bicycle to buy food for the family’s cats after they had run out.
“He loved animals, spending time outdoors, fishing and cycling,” his family said.
Artur worked as a trained carpenter and enjoyed using his practical skills to help others.
“He loved working with his hands. He was always fixing something, helping others, working in the garden or cooking for the people he cared about,” his family added.
He was also a devoted father who took pride in teaching his daughter practical life skills.

“He taught his daughter many things in life, from DIY to cooking,” the tribute said.
Artur had also recently become a grandfather for the first time and was proud of his 14-month-old grandson.
“He had recently become a grandfather to his first grandchild, and he was incredibly proud and excited to be a grandad.”
His family are now urging anyone who may have seen anything in the lead up to the incident to come forward, saying even the smallest piece of information could help investigators understand what happened.
Anyone who saw Artur before the collision is asked to reference incident 444 of 21 February when reporting information through the police website.
