A Peterborough community is coming together to support a beloved local resident who has lost everything in a devastating house fire.
Donna, a well-known and much-loved figure in the Hampton Vale area, is currently in hospital recovering from second- and third-degree burns and two broken heels.
The injuries were sustained after she bravely jumped from a window to escape the flames that engulfed her home on Four Chimneys Crescent on Sunday, July 28.
Fire crews were called to the scene at approximately 4:30pm. Teams from Stanground, Yaxley, Ramsey, and the Peterborough Volunteer Fire Brigade, along with a turntable ladder unit, responded swiftly. Emergency services, including paramedics, were also on site.
The fire, which involved a mid-terraced house, left Donna’s home completely destroyed. Crews spent several hours extinguishing the blaze and checking for lingering hotspots. An investigation into the cause of the fire is currently underway.
Now, as Donna begins her long road to recovery, her neighbours are stepping in to help her rebuild her life from scratch.

Olivia Scattergood, a close friend and neighbour, has launched a GoFundMe campaign with the help of her mother to support Donna through this traumatic time.
“Donna is a kind, caring woman and truly the heart of our community,” said Olivia. “She has been left with absolutely nothing—not even the clothes on her back. We’re hoping to raise funds to help her cover the basic costs of starting over again.”

As of today, the fundraiser has raised £340 toward its £2,000 goal. The community is being urged to contribute whatever they can to support Donna in this time of need.
