Through the early morning mist, the 2025 AEPG Great Eastern Run once again shone a spotlight on the very best of Peterborough — as thousands of runners filled the city streets for one of the biggest days in the local calendar.
Over 6,000 participants took part across both the Half Marathon and Anna’s Hope 5K Fun Run, with thousands more lining the streets to cheer them on from start to finish. The atmosphere was electric as the event brought together elite athletes, fun runners, charity fundraisers, and first-timers all united by one shared goal — to take part in a day that celebrates community spirit, fitness, and fundraising.

Spectators turned out in huge numbers, lining every mile of the route to clap, cheer, and hand out high-fives and sweets to runners. The strong sense of camaraderie among participants was clear — from experienced athletes chasing personal bests to those running for loved ones or to raise vital funds for charity.
Race Director Aaron Murrell praised the incredible teamwork and dedication that made this year’s event such a success.
“It’s been a truly fantastic day for Peterborough,” said Aaron. “To see so many people come together — whether running, volunteering, or supporting — is what makes this event so special.
“We’ve seen countless personal bests achieved, incredible fundraising efforts, and an overwhelming sense of community pride. Together, we’ve helped raise hundreds of thousands of pounds for local and national charities, and that’s something everyone should be proud of.”
As the city recovers from another unforgettable race day, planning has already begun for the 2026 event with organisers promising to make next year’s event even more spectacular.
