Two lifelong friends are about to embark on a marathon radio journey to help a local young people’s charity. Martin Langfrey and Rhys Thrower have known each other for nearly 40 years and when the opportunity to present a Saturday morning breakfast show on Whittlesey based radio station More Muzic Radio they jumped at the chance.

After two years of doing the show they have decided to take on a fund-raising challenge.

On May 4 from 12 noon, Martin and Rhys will present a 24-hour radio show on the station.

They will be presenting throughout the 24 hours with no breaks, theming each of their hours with a different musical genre and at times they will be joined by some of the other presenters from More Muzic Radio.

Rhys said “We love doing the radio show and so we thought it was a great opportunity to give something back to the community.

“Our show on a Saturday morning is always filled with laughter, fun and some great tunes so we thought why not see if we can maintain that for a whole day.

“Martin and I have known each other since we attended a drama group together years ago and have been great friends ever since.

“We know it is going to be a really tough challenge, but we are up for it.”

He added: “Hopefully people will listen in on their smart speakers or on the internet and interact with us as we progress.”

The radio station is also celebrating the news that it has received DAB status and will soon be broadcasting to an even wider audience.
