A 66-year-old man from Peterborough arrested on suspicion of fraud by abuse of position and misconduct in public office has had his bail extended, police have confirmed.
In a brief update issued on 18 March 2026, Cambridgeshire Police said: “The bail date has been extended to 18 June.”
The man was originally arrested on 18 December 2025 and taken into custody at Thorpe Wood Police Station. He was later released on bail pending further inquiries.
At the time of the initial arrest, police confirmed the investigation related to allegations of fraud by abuse of position and misconduct in public office.
CambsNews previously reported that this arrest is understood to be unconnected to three earlier arrests linked to Peterborough City Council in 2025.

Those earlier cases involved three individuals — a woman in her 60s, a man in his 70s, and a man in his 80s — who were arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office. All three were released on bail and remain under investigation.
Misconduct in public office is a criminal offence that involves a public official wilfully neglecting their duties or abusing their position in a way that harms the public interest.
Police have not released further details about the ongoing investigation.
