A restaurant chain – which already has outlets in St Neots and Huntingdon – is opening in St Ives, Cambridgeshire, on November 15. It is moving into premises at 9/10 Sheepmarket and will serve everything from breakfast to lunches and evening meals.

Owned by cafe restaurant chain Loungers the company says it is one of 34 new venues it will open in the coming year.

Loungers says it is an all-day, neighbourhood café bar business providing a ‘third space’ between work and home for customers to meet, chat, eat, drink, and socialise.

Its website boosts: “Best described as being ‘like all the comfort of home but better…unless you have a bar in your lounge and a chef’.”

The company has grown rapidly from its Bristol origins to now operating over 200 restaurants/cafes.

“Lounges are homely, relaxed and slightly eccentric, marrying the best of coffee shop culture, the British pub and the luxury of eating out,” the company says.

“We offer quality, value-for-money, casual dining, and drinking. As a result, we attract a diverse customer base including young professionals, mums, families, over 60s and students.

“The concept is informal, resulting in customers using ‘their Lounge’ to fulfil their different needs at different times of the day. A Lounge is their ‘home from home’.”

It was founded by three friends who wanted to create a neighbourhood café-bar that they would want to go to.

The company’s latest account show it reporting a 9% boost in revenue from £237m in 2022 to £283.5m.

It also promises staff Christmas and Boxing Day off.
