Greater Anglia has been crowned Rail Operator of the Year at the 2025 National Transport Awards, recognising the operator’s record-breaking performance, customer satisfaction and transformation of rail services across the East of England.
Judges praised Greater Anglia for “record-breaking performance and customer satisfaction, underpinned by the introduction of a brand-new fleet across its network,” highlighting its “focus on customers” and “commitment to innovation and investment.”
The award cements Greater Anglia’s status as the UK’s most decorated rail operator, currently holding the “Operator of the Year” titles from the National Transport Awards, National Rail Awards, Spotlight Rail Awards and Rail Business Awards.
Since April 2023, Greater Anglia has been the UK’s most punctual train operator, with annual performance of 93.7% under the long-established Public Performance Measure and 92.8% using the tougher “Time to 3” metric. Its best routes are achieving between 96% and 98.5% punctuality.
Recent initiatives include station upgrades, timetable adjustments to meet growing demand, the installation of tables on Stansted Express trains, and the launch of a Customer and Community Improvement Fund supporting local projects. Its “We’re All Ears” feedback scheme continues to drive customer-led enhancements.
Greater Anglia Managing Director Martin Beable said: “Everyone at Greater Anglia is proud to receive this award. It’s a valuable endorsement of the progress we’ve made in raising standards and reflects the dedication of our colleagues and partners. We’ll continue to focus on providing the best possible service for our customers and communities.”
