Wisbech: Independents bid to oust Conservatives from the town hall

A determined bid to oust the Conservatives on Wisbech Town Council is to be made by a group of independents who plan to contest most of the 18 seats up for grabs in May.
The effort has been co-ordinated by, among others, independent councillor Dave Patrick.
“I’m pleased to announce that this year is going to see a serious electoral challenge to the make-up of Wisbech Town council,” he said.
“There are independent candidates challenging for 15 of the 18 seats on Wisbech Town Council”.
He added: “Over many years many of these candidates have given considerable time as volunteers on many projects in the town and other areas.
“Not as some others have done claiming to be champions of Wisbech by staring to litter only just prior to the elections. Many of your independent candidates have a proven track record.”
He said once nominations close tomorrow, the full list of candidates will be released.
“Many people have told me Wisbech needs a change of direction,” he said.
“Everybody in Wisbech now has the chance for that change .”
