The jobs market across Cambridgeshire is booming with up to 100 workers needed for a pharmaceutical firm’s move to Cambridge, 10 prison officers at Whitemoor “and the prospect of 120 jobs” at a new McDonalds in Peterborough.

Up to 20 jobs are on offer from a recruitment firm looking to “selectively pick the best talent in the marketplace”.

And in Huntingdon, Swift Recruitment are looking to find at least five refuse loaders with the promise of “immediate starts available” and a full-time contract once a probationary period ends.

The growing list of vacancies was revealed today by East Anglia Jobcentre Plus who pledged support from their work coaches to get people back into employment.

Spokesperson Stephen Lankester said: “Unlocking the skills and abilities of jobseekers, improves their employment prospects, and helps achieve the Government’s priority to grow the economy.

“Key to this is the individual specialist support from our team of work coaches, who ensures that everyone gets the help they need, whether they are leaving education, are 50 Plus, or have a health condition.

“This crucial support enables jobseekers to develop their full potential.”

He added: “Identifying barriers to starting and progressing in world of work is a key aspect of the work coach role, so that people can make the most of the help available.”

“Last week the government announced the launch of a consultation on changes to the Work Capability Assessment to help people maximise their potential and ensure every who can benefits from the opportunities work can bring, both for their finances and personal health.

“We know people face a range of barriers to entering work which is why we have also increased the childcare costs parents on Universal Credit can claim back by around 50%, up to £950 a month for a single child and £1,629 for two children.”

Mr Lankester also revealed other vacancies including:

Mr Lankester added: “Our Job Help website is a good place to start when looking for work.

“Head to https://jobhelp.campaign.gov.uk/ to find your next new role.

“Despite the disruption caused by the coronavirus outbreak, there are still jobs out there.

“The new site will point you to who’s hiring now, and you can also find hints and tips on applying for jobs if you haven’t done so for a while.”
