A dangerous driver who sped through the streets of Peterborough in a desperate attempt to evade police has been jailed for more than a year. Aaron Readman, 28, was reported driving his blue BMW erratically in Stanground at around 7.30pm on Saturday 6 December.
Officers later intercepted the vehicle near his home in Hardwick, but Readman fled, triggering a high-speed pursuit.
During the chase, he reached speeds of up to 85mph in a 60mph zone, ignored road hazards, and braked erratically, putting other road users at serious risk.
The pursuit escalated when Readman rammed the front of a police car before continuing his attempt to escape.

It came to an end when officers discovered the BMW had crashed into a fence at his home in The Pastures. Readman was found hiding in a nearby shed and arrested at the scene.
He failed a roadside breath test, which revealed he was more than twice the legal alcohol limit.
Police have since released video footage of the pursuit, highlighting the recklessness of his driving.
Readman later pleaded guilty at Cambridge Crown Court on 12 March to dangerous driving, drink driving, driving without a licence or insurance, and failing to provide a specimen for analysis.

He was sentenced to 13 months in prison and disqualified from driving for three years and six months.
PC Ben Patten, who led the investigation, said: “Readman drove extremely dangerously, hit speeds well above the legal limit, and rammed a police vehicle.
“His actions demonstrated a complete disregard for the law and safety of others. Thanks to the swift response by officers, he was arrested and has now been held accountable for his actions.”
