A Peterborough city councillor arrested earlier this year on suspicion of sexual offences has been re-bailed until 16 December, Cambridgeshire Police have confirmed.
The 25-year-old man was originally arrested on 28 May and has now had his bail extended for the third time as detectives continue their investigation. He was initially due to return in August, then September, and now December.
While the councillor’s name has not been released officially, sources within Peterborough City Council have confirmed he is an elected member, raising questions about transparency and accountability as the case continues.
Police have not provided further details about the nature of the allegations, and no charges have been brought at this stage.

Cambridgeshire Police said: “A 25-year-old man from Peterborough was arrested on suspicion of sexual offences on 28 May. He has been released on bail to return on 16 December.”
