A popular Indian takeaway has lost more than £80 after a ‘customer’ ordered food to be delivered to a household that hadn’t placed an order for it. And it’s not the only takeaway, they say, to have fallen victim to the deception which has targeted the same people.

Khaani Indian Kitchen of East Street, St Ives, has posted a photo of the order which they received on November 17 for delivery locally.

Unfortunately, when it was delivered the householder knew nothing of it, and the takeaway was left with no payment, and an £80 dinner order gone to waste.

In a social media post, Khaani Indian Kitchen said: “We have someone calling up takeaways and going around ordering takeaways to one house, (possibly to get revenge or prank someone).

“Please be aware as he says he will pay cash on delivery but it’s someone else’s home that didn’t order.”

It even gives out the phone number which is placing the orders.

“This negatively impacts those living at the victims house and the restaurant/takeaway who cooks the food for nothing, and it gets wasted,” says the post.

“The people at the residence have said that this has happened to them multiple times from different takeaways.”

It adds: “Be aware takeaways.”

One person asked if they had tried calling the number back.

“Yes, we’ve tried to call back multiple times however he instantly hangs up,” said Khaani Kitchen.

One post suggested: “Everyone should call the number and ask, why are you being a cretin?”
