A jealous thug who burst into his ex-partner’s home at midnight, threatened to burn her alive and waved a hammer in her face has been jailed. Kevin Oliver, 36, forced his way into the terrified woman’s house in Whittlesey on April 20, accusing her of speaking to another man.
In a terrifying ordeal, he shoved her to the floor, blocked her escape, and picked up a hammer from the kitchen – telling her he would “smash her head in” if she didn’t hand over her phone.
The victim desperately tried to flee but Oliver cornered her at the stairs, pinning her down as she feared for her life. Moments later, police stormed in and arrested him.

On Thursday (September 25), Oliver, of Coronation Avenue, Whittlesey, was jailed for 33 months at Huntingdon Law Courts after admitting actual bodily harm. A previous suspended sentence was also activated, and he was slapped with an indefinite restraining order.
DC Lydia Halliday, who led the investigation, said: “This was a despicable attack by Oliver which left the victim absolutely terrified so it’s great he’s been brought to justice.”
