Police have released dramatic footage of the moment a wanted driver accelerated towards an officer in a desperate attempt to evade justice. Carl Scarrow, 44, was wanted for driving offences when officers spotted him in a black Kia at Sunrise Meadow caravan park, off Station Road, near Bluntisham, on Monday 2 March.
Scarrow reversed on to a gravel strip and into a fence before officers approached the vehicle on foot.
As they moved in, Scarrow accelerated directly towards them, forcing one officer to jump out of the way to avoid being hit.
The 44-year-old managed to flee the scene but was arrested the following day at his home in Sunrise Meadow.
Scarrow later pleaded guilty to dangerous driving, driving without a licence and driving without insurance at Cambridge Crown Court on Friday 1 May.
He was sentenced to 14 months in prison and disqualified from driving for five years and six months.
PC Chester Lewis, who investigated the case, said: “What Scarrow did was dangerous and stupid and could have left the officer with serious injuries.”
Cambridgeshire Police have released footage of the dangerous driving incident on the force’s YouTube channel.
