Cambridgeshire Police have now closed at least 15 properties across the county this year as officers continue using court powers to tackle anti-social behaviour, drug misuse, and persistent criminal activity. The latest order was issued on May 13 for a property at 2B Mallard Lane in St Neots following repeated complaints from nearby residents.

The closure order, granted by Peterborough Magistrates’ Court after an application from the St Neots Neighbourhood Team, prohibits anyone from entering the property except emergency services and authorised individuals.

Police said the action followed ongoing reports of anti-social behaviour linked to the address that had caused “significant impact” on neighbours.

PC Sam Palmer said: “This behaviour has caused continued disruption and distress to those living nearby. This closure order is a necessary step to protect the community and prevent further anti-social behaviour.”

Anyone breaching the order could face arrest.

The new St Neots closure pushes the number of publicly reported closure orders in Cambridgeshire to at least 15 since January 2026.

Closure orders are increasingly being used by Cambridgeshire Constabulary to shut down properties linked to disorder, drug dealing, violence, and nuisance behaviour.

The powers fall under the Anti-social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014 and allow courts to close premises for up to three months, with extensions possible in some circumstances.

Among the properties targeted this year are addresses in Wisbech, Cambridge, Peterborough, Ramsey, Huntingdon, St Neots, Little Paxton, Eynesbury, and Witchford.

Several cases involved suspected drug activity, including a closure order at 166 Gladstone Street in Peterborough after officers allegedly found Class A and Class B drugs during a warrant.

In Cambridge, neighbouring properties at Bury Court near Stone Street were both served with closure orders following reports of anti-social behaviour.

Police have also used partial closure orders in some cases, allowing tenants to remain while banning visitors associated with criminality or nuisance.

Neighbourhood officers say the orders are designed to quickly protect residents suffering repeated disruption and intimidation.

A three-month full closure order has been placed on a Witchford property following persistent and serious nuisance and disorder.Peterborough Magistrates’ Court issued the order today (13 May), closing 25 Strawberry Field, following an application from the East Cambridgeshire Neighbourhood Team.

There is no single public database recording every closure order issued in Cambridgeshire, meaning the real total may be higher than figures publicly released through police statements and local media reports.

However, the latest St Neots case further underlines how frequently the powers are now being used across the county.
