A Whittlesey man has been jailed after a shocking series of thefts that saw elderly residents in Peterborough and surrounding areas attacked in their own homes.
Thomas Honeyman, 36, stole a white Jeep from Peterborough on 10 March and drove it to Crowland, where he claimed to be from a pest control company. He pressured an elderly woman into paying £28, then dragged her to the ground and stole £1,000 from her purse. Despite her screams, he managed to escape in the Jeep.
Honeyman continued his spree, stealing a leaf blower, handbags, and tools from multiple victims across Werrington, Crowland, and Eye Green. Two of his victims were men and women in their 80s, specifically targeted in their homes using scams and false pretences.
Police recovered stolen property, including the Jeep and leaf blower, and linked Honeyman to the offences through forensic evidence. Arrested on 15 March, he was wearing clothing matching those seen during the crimes.

Honeyman admitted robbery, burglary, theft from a person, motor vehicle theft, and shop theft. He was sentenced to five years and four months at Cambridge Crown Court on 20 November.
PC Craig Trevor said: “These were despicable crimes. Honeyman relentlessly targeted vulnerable elderly people. I’m pleased he has been brought to justice.”
