This isn’t AI — this is real. The RSPCA has confirmed that a shocking image of over 250 poodle-type dogs rescued from a single property was genuine, dispelling social media speculation that it was artificially generated.
The multi-animal rescue highlights a growing crisis, with multi-animal incidents up 70% across England and Wales since 2021. Often linked to mental health struggles, financial pressures, or poor breeding practices, these situations can spiral rapidly out of control, even for well-meaning owners.
At Radcliffe Animal Centre, Nottingham, the charity took in some of the rescued dogs, including four-year-old Eva and one-year-old Teddy. Both arrived with severely matted coats, sore skin, and overwhelming fear of the outside world.
“Some were so frightened we had to carry them from their kennels to the grass,” said staff at Radcliffe. “Now, they’ve started to play and lean into us for reassurance, showing incredible progress.”
Many dogs from this rescue have already been rehomed, but Eva and Teddy are still looking for patient, understanding owners to continue their rehabilitation. Applications to meet them can be submitted via the Radcliffe Animal Centre website.

RSPCA Superintendent Jo Hirst said: “The public’s disbelief is understandable, but this photo is real. Over-breeding and overwhelmed owners can create staggering situations, and our officers are seeing more cases involving 10, 20, even 100 animals.”

Elsewhere, at Southridge Animal Centre, Hertfordshire, two other dogs from the rescue — Stevie, a blind and deaf cream cocker spaniel, and her guide dog Sandy — are awaiting a forever home. Their story drew a VIP visit from reality star, radio DJ, and RSPCA Ambassador Kate Lawler, who praised their bravery and adaptability.

The RSPCA is urging potential adopters to consider giving these rescued animals a home, and donations to centres like Radcliffe help fund ongoing care and rehabilitation.
